Body Goals

I thought I’d write this post as it’s a topic that is talked about, hash tagged, Facebook etc. It surrounds us every day when you open up any social media page. However behind all these pictures is the sacrifice you don't see.

A lot of people fail to realise the sacrifice, commitment & dedication that is needed to get there. I feel a lot of people are not aware of the reality before beginning their goals; when you’re not mentally prepared is where the downfall happens. Mindset is everything & you have be prepared to push your body to limits it’s never seen as well the willpower to say no to those guilty foods that will surround you at times.

Sacrifice

What is needed to achieve this? Like with anything, there is an opportunity cost to achieve any goal or dream. You need to decide whether you’re willing to prioritise in order to achieve it & whether it’s worth it for you.

The question is can you give up those unhealthy meals you love so much, the weekends wining & dining & to a certain aspects sacrifice slightly on your social life. It all depends on your goals & how serious you are. Those who compete sacrifice a lot in terms of the food they eat in order to achieve their goal.

In a nutshell yes it’s a sacrifice, since when do you become a director without putting in the hours & sacrificing time with your loved ones. That person decides that financially the opportunity cost is greater as it will provide for their family or allow their child to attend private school.

In order to achieve that dream body, you need to be willing to sacrifice time to food prep, plan, manage your social calendar & maybe to a certain extent cull back on a few events. As well as this you will need to enlist in some help at some point along the line which will cost you financially. We can all lose some weight ourselves but to take it further you will need to get down to the nitty-gritty with your nutrition & training. As well this you will need to give more time to training in the gym.

Financially we all can’t afford the best, however, achieving that body is an art & science. Do you really think celebrities achieve those bodies with no help! When they’re shooting for a movie that requires their best shape, a specific nutrition plan of exactly what they’ll eat is designed along with intense detailed PT sessions to compliment. So if you want that dream body like your favourite celebrity you need to make some changes. Yes, we can’t all afford the 24-hour cook that makes all our meals & a PT ready for us on our doorstep, however, you can change your nutrition, have a few sessions with a PT to guide you in the right direction or a sign up to plan which offers both. There are a lot of choices out there in the market & they don't necessarily break the bank balance.

You need to think of this as investing in yourself. I can’t stress what a great medicine exercise is & the number of ailments it can cure or help. Depression being the biggest one of them.

A lot of people ask me why do you put yourself thru all this & sacrifice all the good stuff. Firstly, I haven’t been deprived of a good life at all. It’s a choice I’ve made as I want to aim for that body & be able to fit into clothes I want to wear.

I won’t lie it’s hard & you will need to keep at it consistently for a good couple of months. During those months, you may have that odd cheat meal for a special occasion which is fine as we’re all human. If it’s going to be every weekend it just won’t work.

Once you have reached your goal & you know how to maintain it you’ll probably find you can be slightly be relaxed about certain aspects. Results happen over time & with consistency. Consistency is a key word here! When you eat junk food consistently you gain weight & when you do the opposite you lose! You have to give your body time to gain that consistency of goodness to see results.

The Coco Chick Review

You may forego a fair few meals worth of pizza or boozy nights but for me, if it means getting into those designer skinny jeans or wearing a bikini with no fat rolls then I’m willing to make that sacrifice & change. My absolute dream body may not completely ever happen but I know I’ll still gain in terms of fitness & strength.

If you look after your health & body now it will only pay off in the future. There are also benefits especially for women keeping in shape pre-pregnancy as the likely chances are you’ll bounce back into shape a lot quicker, as our bodies have something called muscle memory. The human body is very clever & sometimes we don’t utilise it to its fullest potential. Make your body work for you & to your advantage where you can, it will only make things that much easier.

Ultimately that sacrifice & choice is down to you & it has to come from within. If you’re not happy doing it or just following a trend, then don’t. If you’re not happy you won’t stick to it. My alternative advice is to try to eat as healthy as you can and participate in some form of exercise to keep your mind & body healthy. Happy mind equals happy body!
