Oblix - Brunch

It was that time of the year again, my birthday! Birthdays are always something I celebrate in a big way but this year I decided to keep it low key.

I always like to do something with 2 of my closest & dearest friends. The three of us are complete foodies so trying somewhere new in London is always a must! We decided to have brunch at Oblix inside the Shard.

We booked a table for 12 pm of which we had for 2 hours however since there wasn’t a mad rush we went over our allocated time slot without any issues.

Our table was by the window, which I highly advise to request when booking. Firstly, a drink is included in the brunch package. I opted for champagne however you can swap this for a cocktail, mocktail or a smoothie.

The way brunch works is that there is a deli that has a unlimited number of choices. Below is a plate of what I had; I think the plate was too small for the amount I had piled on. It’s so easy to get carried away as you want to try a little of everything. On my plate, I had the courgette & feta salad, beetroot & goat’s curd salad, quinoa & feta cheese salad, grilled aubergine with mint yoghurt & basil along with a ricotta & tomato quiche. All the combinations & seasoning were amazingly tasty. You could tell all the veg & dressings were freshly made. On top of this, they have a lovely bread selection. I can ever say no to fresh bread combined with olive oil & balsamic vinegar!

Once you’ve feel like you eaten enough you can then proceed to choose one dish from the mains along with one side. I opted for the grilled sourdough with poached eggs, avocado & tomatoes. This combination is my all-time favourite when it comes to brunch & I always get sucked into ordering this wherever I go instead of trying something new. I’m a diehard avocado fan! I ordered fries as my side, yes I'm guilty of eating chips once a week. Fries at such places are always so much fancier & tasty it's rude not to try them!

The most dangerous part of any meal, dessert! I say dangerous as this again is like the deli you can choose whatever you like & you can always go for seconds. The desserts are a miniature size, which is good as you can try a variety. My three favourites were banana bread, tiramisu & vanilla baked cheesecake. I must say I was a bit sceptical about sweet potato pie but it was quite nice.

The Coco Chick Review

If you’ve not been to Shard it’s definitely worth a visit. The brunch at Oblix is priced at £62pp for which you receive a champagne or another drink of your choice, deli counter, one main, side & a variety of desserts. For London, I feel the brunch is well priced for what you get & it's definitely worth every penny.

You can't fault the ambience, which is mellow & soulful along with the stunning views! I couldn’t have asked for a better Sunday with my girls. I highly recommend this experience if you’re looking for a pleasant long affair of good food & drinks.
