James Duigan is a well known clean eating guru & also famous for keeping celebrities such as Rosie Huntington in amazing shape. He has now opened a cafe & gym in Notting Hill.

Located in the beautiful area of Westbourne Grove the cafe is small & friendly. The cafe is decorated with eclectic furnishings, which gives a rustic feel to the place. The overall look & feel emits an ambience of zen.

James Duigan menu reflects his philosophy, which means his menu is free from gluten & refined sugars. As I walked in, the place was busy but buzzing. The service was a little slow but I could see it was a new place finding its feet. The service did not reflect in their food & I was not disappointed.

I turned up at 12pm after waiting for 2 hours in a queue for a sample sale, so I was extremely hungry! I hadn’t had my caffeine fix in the morning, which was much needed along with something to satisfy my appetite.

The Menu

The menu is broken down into smoothies, coffees, teas, Acai bowls, breakfast bowls, wraps, pots & pieces & medicine balls. In order to choose, I decided I wanted something with nut butter in it as I find it controls my sugar cravings & a healthy treat to have with my coffee.

Below is what I opted for:

Protein Boost Clean & Lean Coffee – Protein excellence, espresso, organic butter & coconut oil. It does sounds strange as you think you’ll be drinking butter but actually it tasted like a warm protein shake with caffeine. I personally really liked the taste & not to mention it was a good source of protein as well.

Clean & Lean Cookie – I had a chocolate chip cookie which was made from using clean ingredients such as coconut flour, cacao nibs, coconut oil & oats. The cookie was soft & tasty of which I did not feel I was being compromised on the taste. Sometimes we feel by eating healthy we’re missing out on the good stuff, however if someone hadn’t told me I wouldn’t have known any different.

Lean on me Bowl – The bowl was layered with a fruity like compote at the bottom which I believe was the acai, then layers of berries, granola, almond butter mixed in between & toasted coconut flakes on top. When you dig in the key is to mix it all up & flavours that come thru are seriously yum!

The Coco Chick Review

If you’re in the area or simply want a clean breakfast then I would highly recommend paying a visit. I would definitely go back to try some more dishes as well being able to soak up the zen ambience the place has to offer. It’s definitely a place you can go with friends to catch up or simply sit there with your laptop to do a bit work whilst you eat.

Happy Clean Eating!
