Ring.com - Security Doorbell

I recently noticed a few people had a very sleek modern looking doorbell placed on their doorsteps. When it comes to gadgets I love investing in them so I had to find out more!

What is Ring.com?

Ring.com is a security doorbell, which has a wide-angle camera & speaker. When someone rings on your doorbell you receive a notification on your phone app, which states someone’s at the door. You open up the notification & you’ll be able to see thru the camera as to who is at your door as well as being able to speak to them. The camera also has a motion sensor where you can set the distance. If anyone comes within the distance set you will be notified on your phone. Ring.com also offers a month free cloud service where you can record all activity.

When you order the doorbell you’ll receive a box with the full kit & instructions of how to fit it. It can be fitted in 2 ways either charged & mounted outside by your door or hardwired to your current chime.

If its hardwired you won’t need to unhook it to charge it. However if its just mounted you will need to charge it once the battery dies. The doorbell is secured on a bracket with security screws. I have opted for the second method however I have been told it takes a good few months for the battery to die.

You will then need to connect the device to your wi fi which is very simple to do. A decent Internet speed is required & Ring.com recommend at least a minimum speed of 1mb. My device is connected to a much higher speed so it works perfectly fine.

Few Points

The further you set motion sensor the battery life is consumed quicker.

When someone rings the doorbell the sound of the chime is heard outside. You can call them to have this reduced or switched off so your neighbours are not disturbed.

You can buy plug in chime to put around the house depending on the size of your house. I will be purchasing one to keep in my lounge.

After the month’s free service has completed you will have to pay for cloud recording service. It costs $3 a month or $30 for the year.

If the doorbell is stolen they will replace it as they offer a lifetime protection.

The kit comes with all the tools and instructions that are needed to install it. The only thing that was needed was a drill as mine was fitted against the brick wall. I was lucky enough that a friend was kind enough to come & install it for me. :)

The Coco Chick Review

After having it installed I think it’s a fab purchase & not a great amount to invest for a device that can provide a good level of security. It’s a small price to pay for a device that gives you a peace of mind. As the device also records it’s good to have if you don’t’ have cctv at home. It’s extremely handy if I’m ever home alone as I can see who’s at my door without having to open it; as well as being alerted if someone unknown approaches the property within the motion range set. For those who are mums at home with babies & young kids this can prove useful from a security aspect or just being able to tell the delivery guy your busy & to leave your parcel outside.
